Kololo Game Reserve in Vaalwater

Kololo Game Reserve is situated in Limpopo in the heart of the Waterberg biosphere, a scenic three hour drive from Johannesburg. Vast, peaceful and incredibly beautiful, Kololo is a fascinating destination with a rich cultural legacy and a bountiful natural splendour. Malaria-free and home to a wide variety of game and birdlife, there is a wide range of activities available including game drives on Kololo and the bordering Big 5 reserve, walking and cycling trails, bird watching and fishing. For those with an adventurous spirit, there are horse back safaris in the nearby Waterberg Mountains, as well as game viewing on elephant back safari. Two wrap-around lookout decks provide unparalleled views over the plains of the reserve, perfect for sipping sundowners on balmy evenings, whilst in cooler weather, the bar area is just the place for curling up with a book in front of a blazing fire. The newly built, fully equipped, air-conditioned conference and banqueting room seats ninety delegates banqueting style, one hundred and thirty delegates schoolroom style and one hundred and sixty cinema style.Kololo has recently launched their Kid’s Safari Programme which features a number of exciting, fun filled activities such as excursions to Bambelela wildlife rehab farm and Tabakwena crocodile breeding farm, game tracking, bush cooking and face painting, to name but a few! The Waterberg supports a biome of 14500 square kilometres of bushveld which give rise to a rich diversity of flora that supports the animal and birdlife which thrive here. Kololo has Impala, Kudu, Zebra, Eland, Nyala, Waterbuck, Rooi Hartebeest, Giraffe and many other species of antelope on the reserve. Birdwatchers will enjoy over 300 species of birdlife indigenous to the area.
